If you want to know the future trends in tiles, the Cersaie fair is the place to be. Held annually in Bologna, Italy, the fair showcases the latest looks in tiles and bathroomware.
During the expo, more than 111,000 visitors attend the fair with over 800 exhibitors showcasing their latest products from tiles to bathroom ware. After a two-year hiatus (thanks to Covid), we were lucky enough to once again attend the fair as well as visit some of our Italian factories.
While the energy crisis in Europe has hindered production, the manufacturers were keen to showcase their latest technology. Porcelain tiles that look like stone or marble is not a new trend but it was the technological advancements in the digital printing capabilities which make this look much more exciting. In many cases, it was hard to spot the difference between real stone and porcelain. The ability to add depth to the digital image using a 3D printing technique was amazing to see.
Travertine look tiles in either a cross-cut or vein-cut style, combined with the advances in manufacturing, elevated this look to be as close as possible to the real travertine stone and makes it one to watch for.
Textured wall tile options in neutral tones or harmonious shades continues to gain momentum. Subtle texture or pattern that adds a point of difference to your walls with many more options on display at Cersaie. From lineal lines to floral motifs, this look can elevate a space and bring a little something extra to your project.
We also saw more modern pattern floor tiles to add to our range along with an explosion of colour for your walls. From citrus tones of orange, yellow and chartreuse to bright blues and vivid greens, the pops of colour were happy and playful.
With the fair now finished, we look forward to seeing these new looks hit our shores.
